Ask, and You Will Receive

The following are verses which I compiled to meditate on. What I find in almost all of the verses is the message to believe and then we will see amazing things. The first one, Exodus 14:15 I find rather humorous; the Children of Israel are surrounded by the sea and the Eyptian army. Moses then gives a great speech telling them to stand strong and see the salvation of the Lord. Then in verse fifteen, it is as if God is surprised that Moses is crying out to him. If we recall, God told Moses that he would be like God and Aaron would be his prophet (Exod 7:1) and so I get the impression that God is mildly rebuking Moses for not just doing what he had already been authorized to do; He had the power, authority, and even a cool staff to do whatever was necessary to rescue the Israelites. As I have been teaching through the book of Matthew and learning more about the Kingdom of Heaven/God, I can’t help but believe that Jesus truly wants us to take ownership of the promises which he continually repeated as well as all of the others in Scripture! You can watch my study through the book of Matthew here.

  • Exod 14:15 And the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. NKJV
  • 2Kgs 6:15-18  15 And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”  16 So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who [are] with us [are] more than those who [are] with them.” 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain [was] full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 18 So when [the Syrians] came down to him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, and said, “Strike this people, I pray, with blindness.” And He struck them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.  NKJV
  • Matt 6:30 “Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, [will He] not much more [clothe] you, O you of little faith?  NKJV
  • Matt 7:7-12  7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 “Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 “Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! 12 “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.  NKJV

And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”  29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” NKJV
